EDEX 2010 to 'Think Green' again

Sri Lanka's largest single educational platform, the National Higher
Education and Careers Exposition `EDEX-2010', conducted by Royal
College, Colombo will be held at the BMICH from January 22 to 24, next
year.

Launched in 2004, the EDEX-2010 will be the seventh in the series and
the main objective in conducting the exhibition was to offer Sri Lankan
youth an opportunity in overseas higher education, skills development
and vocational training, for a sustainable future.
Addressing the media in Colombo, Royal College Principal Upali
Gunasekara appreciated the importance of conducting such an annual
program and said that it will benefit the youth especially after their
secondary education.
EDEX Chairman Kamal Abeysinghe recalled the EDEX 2008/2009 program
which launched the very first `Green Zone'.
"The EDEX 2010 will extend the program with the `Think Green'
campaign to empower and mobilize Sri Lankan youth to think green and act
green towards a better future.
The EDEX Chairman said details of country's higher educational and
career guidance programs, connecting Sri Lankan youth with choices,
options and opportunities could be obtained at this year's `EDEX'
exhibition.
He also said the EDEX Website www.edex.lk will provide an opportunity
for students not only in the urban sector, but also in the rural sector
to file their CVs and thereafter they will be accessed by corporate
entities participating in EDEX from across the globe.
"The EDEX Careers Portal provides an opportunity for local and
foreign educational institutes and training providers to gain access to
wide ranging audience, including high school graduates, parents,
university graduates to undergraduates and current high school
students".
The EDEX Chairman further said that over 250 foreign universities,
from countries, such as USA, UK, Australia, Russia, Singapore, New
Zealand, China, France, Japan, Switzerland and Malaysia will make their
representation at the EDEX through their local agents.
According to the organisers the EDEX 2010 exhibition will also be
held at Queen's Hotel, Kandy on January 26 and 27, 2010 for the benefit
of children in the outstations. The Presidential Secretariat, Ministry
of Education, Ministry of Labour Relations and Manpower and Ministry of
Vocational and Training have endorsed the event in recognition of the
objectives and the close alignment of the vision of EDEX. The Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce, ICTA, AMCHAM and European Chamber of Commerce will
continue to be the strategic partners this year as well.
