Seminar on Legal Aspects of Credit Transactions
The above seminar will be held on October 8 from 1.30 p.m. to 5.00
p.m. at Hilton Colombo. Areas covered at the Seminar would include
Introduction to Credit Transactions and connected risks; Types of
Customers/Parties who would involve in such transactions including legal
status (ability to sue or to be sued) of such Customers; Advantages and
legal aspects of proper correspondence and documentation including
methods to be adopted; Prescription - Legal requirements and advantages
of timely actions; Collateral and other securities which could be used
to minimize such risks; Specific documentation applicable to Credit
Transactions such as cheques, promissory notes and bank guarantees,
Legal actions/litigation connected with such Credit Transactions in the
event of non-payment on time; and Management of Credit Transactions to
effect settlements - at the pre-legal and legal stages.
The Seminar which will be an interactive Seminar will be Chaired by
President's Counsel Shibly Aziz, with presentations by President's
Counsel Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe; Deputy Solicitor General Ms. Dilrukshi
Dias Wickremasinghe, Attorney-at-Law Ravi Algama, and Deputy General
Manager (Legal)/Board Secretary, Hatton National Bank Ms. Indrani
Goonesekera.
The seminar is organised by the Association of Corporate Lawyers Sri
