Winner:

Domestic animals are very common to every country. In our country,
many families keep domestic animals as pets. There are many kinds of
domestic animals. Some are very useful to man in various ways,
especially in the agricultural sector.
Domestic pets are numerous. Birds such as parrots, pigeons, sparrows
and peacocks fall under the category of domestic pets. Then, there are
cats, dogs, rabbits, deer, squirrel and mongoose.Cows and she-buffaloes
are very useful for the national economy as dairy products are made with
the milk they produce. The cow is considered sacred in Hinduism and
worshipped in India. Hindus call it the 'mother cow'. Cow's milk is very
useful and nutritious. Cow-dung is used as fuel and manure. Some people
eat the flesh of cows and bulls. They are known as beef-eaters. But, a
majority of people consider eating beef to be a great sin and refrain
from doing so.We can learn many things about domestic animals. We can
know about the sounds they make to communicate, their food habits and
their behaviour. Some keep domestic animals as pets. One has to devote a
lot of time and attention when rearing domestic animals. Otherwise they
could fall sick or die due to malnutrition or diseases. Domestic animals
have to be protected. Even wild animals must be protected and their
habitats preserved.

I'm the chef
I'm the chef at home. I can cook food for my family.

I learn to cook from my mother. Cooking is fun to me. I can make tea
and serve. I can lay the table, too.
If I learn to cook well. I can run a restaurant. One day I made a
tasty dhall curry for lunch. I enjoy my cooking.
Do you know a joke which my mother told?
The joke is: "Too many cooks spoil the soup", but I do not spoil my
soup.

Victory
over terrorism
We have been suffering from terrorism for nearly 30 years. Many
innocent Tamils have had to live with terror due to the LTTE. These
innocent people also lost their loved ones due to the war. The
Government troops started their war against the LTTE from Mavilaru. The
President, Mahinda Rajapaksa supported the government troops by giving
them all the weapons they needed to win the war. Defence Secretary
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa led the war along with the Army, Navy and Air Force
Commanders. At last we succeeded in killing the LTTE terrorist leader
Prabhakaran. Now we can live peacefully and develop our country by
getting together and working, thanks to the President, the Defence
Secretary, the Commanders and especially the soldiers who even
sacrificed their lives to free our nation.

A wonderful uncle I lost
Winner:
He was a friend,
No, he was more than a friend!
He was my uncle,
The world’s best uncle!
I called him ‘Paapa’,
Because he was like my father.
He gave me love, he gave me passion!
If I had a problem,
And needed advice,
He gave me advice,
I didn’t have to think twice!
No is an answer, he has never given,
Whenever we needed a favour or to be driven.
But now I’m left alone,
With a broken heart,
He left us all and went apart!
Though he is gone, he is in my heart,
My Paapa and I will never be torn apart!
