INS 'Savitri' in Colombo
Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe
visited Indian Naval Ship 'Savitri' at the Port of Colombo yesterday. He
was ceremonially welcomed aboard by the Commanding Officer Commander
Gagan Kaushal.
The Navy Commander also met the High Commissioner of India to Sri
Lanka Shri Alok Prasad on board the ship and presented him with a
memento to mark the occasion.
"INS 'Savitri' is a Sukanya Class Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) with a
displacement of 1890 tonnes. It is 101.1 metres long and has a competent
of 144 personnel on board. The ship arrived on the 2nd of October for
refuelling while accompanying the Maldivian Coast Guard Ship 'Hurawee',
which is on her way to India for refitting.
