Global Trust starts off with Rs. 200m

The opening of Global Trust Financial Services Ltd (GTFS), Sri Lanka's first ever financial company, after liberating the country from terrorism will take place at no.1, Castle Avenue, Colombo 8 during the latter part of this month.

Susantha Fernando, who was the founder of Bartleet Finance in 1983 is the Managing Director of the GTFS. Former Controller of Exchange M.R. Fernando and Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku are the directors of the company, while ex Banker Ajith Aklahakoon is the Manager/CEO. Susantha Fernando said he believes in the aftermath of the liberation of the North and East and the unification of the country after three long decades of terrorism, unprecedented business development opportunities are in the years ahead throughout the country. He said the GTFS will commence with a capital of Rs. 200 million and a huge capital of another Rs. one billion is expected within the next two years, especially after establishing branches in Jaffna, Batticaloa, Matara, Kalutara, Hambantota and Negombo.
