Prime Minister opens food processing factory

Cerestar (Pvt) Limited opened a food processing factory at Bandaragama in the Kalutara district, which produce different varieties of processed food out of rice and corn. The total investment for this project is Rs. 100 million and it is one of the state-of-the-art factories in the district. The main objective of this company is to support local rice and maize farmers in the country.

The company will initially manufacture several varieties of cornflakes and rice crackers and will market its products under the “Nutrinate” brand. The company being a 100 per cent local company will look for potential opportunities to enter overseas markets as well. Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka the chief guest at the opening ceremony being introduced to some of their products by the company’s Chairman Prabath Fonseka.
