by Ananda KANNAGARA
The Raigam Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd, the pioneers in the Sri
Lankan industrial and marketing sector, called upon all patriotic Sri
Lankan entrepreneurs to start more industrial ventures, taking into
account of the peaceful atmosphere currently prevailing in the country.
Addressing a media briefing to introduce `Raigam Real Sri Lankan Trade
Policy', Raigam Marketing Ltd, Chairman Dr. Ravi Liyanage said the true
Sri Lankan identity was slow in coming, due to the absence of a local
economy based on Sri Lankan products.
"Unfortunately Sri Lankans got used to enjoy the goods and services
of international marketeers who have flooded the Sri Lankans with their
brands," he said.
The Raigam Marketing Services who has provided over 2500 direct
employment to Sri Lankans at their main factory and 17 subsidiaries
islandwide also exports their food products such as soya meat, rice
flour and biscuits to countries including UK, Middle East, America and
Australia.
"We not only provide employment to the local youth but also bring in
a colossal sum as foreign exchange annually to the country, so that, it
is the duty of all true Sri Lankans to appreciate our invaluable service
to the nation,".
Dr. Liyanage further said "Now the smell of freedom is in the air, we
must realize that this is the ideal time to sow the seeds for local
products. We are well endowed with the technical know-how and
entrepreneurial abilities. We also know the taste of our people,"
