Navy Chief attends prestigious symposium

Sri Lankan Navy Chief, Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and his
Indian counterpart Admiral Nirmal Varma have gained the opportunity of
attending the 19th Sea Power Symposium, which is currently being
conducted by the United States Navy at the Naval War College, Newport,
Rhode Island.
The symposium is attended by 96 Chiefs of Navies of the world and 15
other heads of naval delegations. This is the highest naval gathering
held under one roof in history. Both Vice Admiral Samarasinghe and
Admiral Verma are due to address this prestigious gathering. Both Naval
Chiefs are distinguished graduates of the Naval War College of the USA,
having graduated from Naval Staff College in 1991 and Naval Command
College in 1997 respectively.
