Ladies College reign supreme

National champions Ladies College oarswomen gave yet another worthy performance to retain the Marie Musaeus Higgins Trophy collecting 22 points Musaeus College 18 points at the 6th Ladies College-Musaeus College Regatta held on the Beira waters yesterday.

Ladies College now leads with four to Musaeus one and one drawn in the series regatta.

Ladies College oarswomen rowed with authority and showed their prowess with power and endurance over their rivals Musaeus College.

Ladies College won the `A’ Pair, `B’ Pair and `B’ Fours and also the `C’ Fours (no points) while Musaeus College won the `A’ Scull, `B’ Scull and the `A’ Fours.

Despite Ladies College winning overall title Musaeus College crew won the most important event the `A’ Fours-the Boat Race defeating Ladies College with a time of 4.03 secs. Musaeus College crew composed of Subashini Kularatne (B), Hiruni Mendis (2), Swarnamali Wijesinghe (3), Chalani Ramanayake (S) Nathira Wijemanne (cox) rowed with great power and endurance to beat the crew of Ladies College.

Amaya Mandawala (B), Anjali Mandawala (2) Tashya Lenaduwa (3) Yanithtra Hallock (S), Khyati Wickremanayake (cox).

‘A’ Scull: Swarnamali Wijesinghe (Musaeus College) beat Amaya Jayasuriya (Ladies College). Time: 4:47 secs.

‘B’ Scull: Sachithra Jayathilaka (Musaeus College) beat Sarini Jayawardena (Ladies College). Time: 4.39 secs.

‘C’ Fours: Amani Tissera (B), Dharini Samarasinghe (2), Ashani Welikala (3), Umaya Gunasena (S), Anouchka Tissera (Cox) (Ladies College) beat Jithmini Withanage, Nipunadi Hettiarachchi, Chula Abeysekera, Laksha Sannasgama, Dulsha Sannasgama (Musaeus College). Time: 4:30 secs.

Old Girls ‘Fours’: Ladies College beat Musaeus College. Time: 4.30 secs.

‘A’ Pair: Sarani Jayawardena (B), Amaya Jayasuriya (S) (Ladies College) beat Hiruni Mendis (B), Anushka Weerakoon (S) (Musaeus College). Time: 4:27 secs.

‘B’ Pair: Amayi Mandawala (B), Yanithtra Hallock (S) (Ladies College) beat Swarnamali Wijesinghe (B), Chalani Ramanayaka (S) (Musaeus College). Time: 4:24 secs.

‘B’ Four: Sarani Jayawardena (B), Shiyanka de Zylva (2), Tarena Navaratne (3), Amaya Jayasuriya (S), Shilohni Sumathivzh (Cox) (Ladies College) beat Sachithra Jayatileke (B), Thejani Gunasekera (C), Samanmali Gurusinghe (3), Vinuri Wickremasekera (S), Pramudi Dias (Cox) (Musaeus College). Time: 4:10 sec.
