Athletic Quadrangular should be interesting

ATHLETICS: Around 450 athletes will participate at the 4th Quadrangular Athletic Extravaganza-Matros 2009, organised by Maristonians Sports Association to be held on October 17 at the Maris Stella College grounds, Negombo commencing from 9.00 a.m.

Promising athletes view this as a launching pad to measure their timings and the challenge with rivals. The four participating schools will be Maris Stella College, Negombo, Trinity College, Royal College, Colombo and St. Benedict's College have lined up strong teams to compete this year.

Praneeth Peiris, the President of Maristonians Sports Association said that MARTROS has grown from its inaugural meet in 2006 to be recognised as role model of a mega quadrangle athletic event after three consecutive years of immense success and support it had through its course.

The meet will feature various track and field events from age categories under-11 to under-19. The Sri Lanka Athletic Association officials will officiate at the meet.

Every arrangement has been made to have this athletic meet in a carnival atmosphere with entertainment, food, drinks and fun.

P.H.D. Waidyatilaka, the President Veterans Sri Lanka Athletic Association and IAAF Technical Official will be the chief guest.
