Protect environment during Green Month

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources will celebrate Green Month with a series of programs to protect the environment. The Green Month will commenced on October 15 till November 15.

In the past, the Green Month was celebrated by encouraging the public to grow trees. "At this years Green Month celebrations hope to create an awareness among the public to protect and preserve the environment. The growth of more green is viewed as a healthy sign for human life.

The inauguration ceremony to mark the event will be held at the Ampara Aranthalawa Special Task Force training centre. The ministry has planned several events to coincide with the Green Month such as distributing organic farming equipment to indigenous people, a tree planting campaign bordering the newly developed roads in Moneragala, Hambantota and the Eastern province.
