Beware of gold sale scams

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has learnt that there are scams that are being perpetrated by some unscrupulous persons who claim that they have been authorized to sell gold belonging to the Central Bank.

On that basis, various offers have allegedly been made by such persons to members of the public.

The relevant authorities are now investigating into these scams and steps will be taken to trace and take necessary legal steps to deal with the offenders.

In the meantime, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka cautions the public that they must not be duped by these unscrupulous claims, since the Central Bank is not selling any gold and therefore these claims to sell gold on behalf of the Central Bank are completely false.
