Thomians - Petes cager final on Oct. 22

BASKETBALL: S. Thomas' will meet St. Peter's College in the under 19 Schools Basketball Tournament final to be played at the floodlit Courts of S. Thomas', Mount Lavinia on Thursday, October 22 at 7 p.m.

In the semi-finals S. Thomas' beat St. Benedict's by a close margin 85 points to 81 with Vikesh Dharmasena collecting 17 points, Shehan Gomez - the captain getting 15, while Udayanga Perera was the most impressive Benedictine player, collecting 27 points. In the first round, S. Thomas' beat Trinity 99 to 49, beat St. Joseph's Nugegoda 104 points to 24, beat Carey College 97 points to 22, beat Holy Cross, Kalutara 124 points to 20, beat D. S. Senanayake College 101 points to 30, beat De Mazenod College 104 points to 50, beat St. John's Jaffna 104 points to 46, beat Kingswood College 130 points to 51.

In the second round, S. Thomas' beat St. Benedict's 67-64, beat St. Joseph's 76-70, beat Maris Stella 74-65, but S. Thomas' lost to Prince of Wales 59-64.

In the quarter-finals, S. Thomas' beat Azar Central 77 points to 64.
