by Lalin FERNANDOPULLE
Sri Lanka will be spotlighted at this year's Classe Export Trade
Fair, a major event concerning international trade in Lyon, France from
December 1 to 2.
The potential for trade, tourism and investment in Sri Lanka will be
promoted at the mega trade fair which attracts major players in
international trade under one roof.
The event is organised by the Classe Export Magazine, a leader in the
French press and Investor Services Asia (ISA), a firm specialised in
Franco-Sri Lanka relations.
CEO, ISA, Tima Lazurus said this is the ideal time to promote Sri
Lanka's unique attractiveness and its strategic location for
international trade.
"The world trade fair is a fine opportunity to position the country
on top of the global trade map", Lazurus said.
Hayleys, Hands International,Ceylon Tours, Premadasa Jewellers and
Touch International will participate in the trade fair showcasing some
of the worlds best brands.
The much anticipated event will also be an opportunity to relaunch
the Franco-Sri Lanka Business Council as French entrepreneurs feel the
time is favourable for a leap in bilateral trade and investment.
"The war stifled the enthusiasm of investors for several years and
now all barriers have been cleared for a speedy development. There will
be more joint ventures and foreign investments" Lazurus said.
ISA plans to bring down a French delegation early next year following
the success of the trade fair in December. The Rhone-Alpes region helped
Sri Lanka in setting up craftsmen training centres in the South after
the tsunami.
"Sri Lanka has not forgotten the support extended by friends and
partners in Lyon during difficult times. We will strengthen relations
and encourage French companies to invest in Sri Lanka", he said. The Sri
Lankan Ambassador will be the chief guest for the trade fair.
Sri Lanka will also be highlighted in the 19th edition of the Classe
Export Magazine next month. The magazine has a large readership in the
import export sectors in France.
