Special programs for displaced students

The Ministry of Education initiated a special educational program for displaced students who are sitting the G.C.E. Advanced Level and Ordinary Level examinations, on the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

According to the Education Minister, a group of teachers from Colombo were sent to Vavuniya to hold revision classes for GCE A/Level students every week. Another revision program for GCE O/Level students of the North and East is also organised by the Ministry, with teachers from conflict-affected areas and Colombo to enable the students to make up for time lost during the armed conflict.

Qualified A/L and O/L teachers have been assigned by the Education Ministry to teach these students and conduct classes to fully cover their syllabuses.

The services of teachers in national schools will also be acquired to update the knowledge of these students and make them ready for the A/L and O/L examinations.
