Two wounded in shoot-out

Two men were seriously wounded following a shoot-out that occurred in the wee hours of Saturday morning at Thimbirigasyaya Road, Narahenpita, Senior DIG Nimal Mediweka told the Sunday Observer.The incident took place when some persons travelling in a car opened fire at the two persons who were about to drive off in their car opposite a night club around 3.30 a.m. on Saturday.

According to police the two injured men were from New Town Gothatuwa. They were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital following the shoot-out. One person had sustained serious injuries while the other had minor injuries.

The two persons had spent some time at the night club.

The shooting was over a business deal, police said.DIG Colombo Crime Division (CCD) Anura Senanayake visited the scene and instructed the police to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene in a car.
