The enormous investment opportunities in Sri Lanka must be made use
of by the German investors. The prevailing peace in the island backed by
Government efforts to attract foreign investments had created an ideal
climate for investors said Dr. Stefan Weckbach, Charge d'Affaires of the
German Embassy in Sri Lanka.
Addressing a group of high ranking German businessmen belonging to
the World Chef Association of Cologne and Gentlemen's Golf Club 99 of
Colongne, Germany, who arrived in Sri Lanka to explore investment
opportunities, Dr. Weckbach said that the German Embassy in Sri Lanka
provides full assistance to the investment promotion drive launched by
the Sri Lanka Government.Western Provincial Council Minister of Tourism,
Road Development, Housing and Construction W. A. Nimal Lanza welcoming
the 58 member investor group which consists of leading manufacturers,
bankers and entrepreneurs said their visit marked an historic event in
German-Sri Lanka friendship. After the eradication of terrorism in May
this year, a new chapter of development has commenced.
The country's empathetic victory over the scourge of terrorism that
had affected it for almost three decades has given a new sense of hope
of positive euphoria and confidence of a bright future, he said.
Kumara Reisan GMBH, Managing Director Kumara Rajapaksa said that the
tireless efforts made by the Sri Lanka Consul General in Colongne
Germany together with the leader of the delegation Vleer and the WPC
tourism minister made a reality of his dream to bring such a high
calibre entrepreneurial German investment delegation to Sri Lanka.
Labour Minister Athauda Seneviratne, the Sri Lanka Consul General in
Colongne, high ranking officials of the German Embassy in Sri Lanka, the
German business community based in Sri Lanka, leading businessmen linked
to tourism, officials of the Tourist Board and officials of the WPC
Ministry of Tourism, Road Development, Housing and Construction
participated.
