Rain washes out five games

CRICKET: Bad weather completely washed out five out of the six SLC Premier League cricket tournament Tier 'A' matches on the second day in Colombo and Dambulla yesterday.

Not a ball was bowled in the matches between NCC v SSC at Maitland Place, CCC v Tamil Union at Maitland Crescent, Moors SC v Army SC at Braybrooke Place, Bloomfield v Colts CC at Reid Avenue and Baduraliya CC v Ragama CC at Dambulla.

However at the Colts ground in Havelock Park, Chilaw Marians SC went on to extend their first innings to 305 and in reply Saracens SC had reached 18 for no loss. All matches will resume today weather permitting.

Chilaw Marians SC: 305 (M. Udawatte 35, M. Siriwardena 57, H. Cooray 50, N. Perera 56, J. Gunaratne 74, R. Wimaladharma 5 for 106, I. Ratnayake 2 for 52, M. Wijetilleke 2 for 14).

Saracens SC: 18 for no loss.
