CRICKET: A belligerent knock of 70 by Muditha Wijekoon helped Kandy
Cricket Club to register an easy nine wicket win over Matale Cricket
Club and enter the quarter-finals of the Sri Lanka Cricket's inter-club
limited over Division I cricket tournament at University grounds,
Peradeniya.
Muditha Wijekoon had 4 fours and 3 sixes in his knock which lasted 64
balls and was associated in an opening stand of 110 with Amith Jayaratne
who made 40 not out with 2 fours.
Earlier leg-spinner Ranga Lihindapita routed Matale Cricket Club with
excellent figures of 5 for 21.
Matale CC: 113 all out (Rajitha Ranaweera 50, Damith Rangana 15,
Ranga Lihindapita 5 for 21, Suresh Peiris 2 for 18, Diliepa Wanasinghe 2
for 12).
Kandy CC: 114 for 1 in 19 overs (Muditha Wijekoon 70, Amith Jayaratne
40 not out).
