Hewage appointed Finance Commission Chairman

Ariyaratne Hewage has been appointed as Chairman, Finance Commission by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, in terms of Article 154 R (1) (c) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

The Finance Commission is responsible for planning the financial requirements and providing the funding for the provincial council.

As Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hewage has contributed to develop the education sector towards the "Knowledge Society of the 21st Century".

He also has contributed in developing programmes and plans to establish an air-sea hub in Sri Lanka as Secretary, Ministry of Ports and Aviation.

He is a senior public officer and has obtained his first degree in education from Peradeniya University and Master of Public Administration degree from the West Virginia University, USA.

He also has obtained professional training in numerous subject areas and has served in various capacities in the public sector.
