Sampath Bank wins SAFA award

Executive Director/Group Chief Financial Officer of Sampath Bank PLC, Ranjith Samaranayake receiving the Award from Abdul Maal A Muhith, M.P. Minister of Finance, Bangladesh.

Sampath Bank wins SAFA award won by presenting the Joint 1st Runner-Up Award for Best Presented Accounts the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in the Banking Institutions category to the Bank’s Annual Report 2008 SAFA is an apex body of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) and a regional grouping of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

The aim of the awards is to promote high degree of financial disclosure and good corporate governance among the organizations in the member countries.

Sampath Bank has won this award twice before in 2004 and 2005 from SAFA, in addition to winning many corporate awards presented by local bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and ACCA - Sri Lanka.

The Award ceremony was held recently at the Bangabandhu International Conference Hall in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
