Ranil’s plan on Gen Fonseka bared

Inside UNP sources, who wished to remain anonymous, said that UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had covertly advised Galle District UNP leader Vajira Abeywardena to sabotage General Sarath Fonseka’s political campaign in the Galle district and also not to express his views against the General at the UNP Working Committee meeting when the latter tried to speak against General Sarath Fonseka.

Vajira is said to have told Ranil that he was against General Sarath Fonseka since he would destroy democracy in the country due to his Army temperament. The same sources said that Ranil Wickremesinghe had advised the National Lawyers’ Association organizers to drop S. B. Dissanayake’s speech from the agenda which led to serious arguments between leading lawyer Upul Jayasooriya, and organiser of the National Lawyers’ Association.
