Arson attack on Toronto temple

An attempt had been made by an unidentified person or persons to torch Sri Lanka's Buddhist temple in Toronto on Friday.

Reports from Canada said the arson attack at the temple, known as the Toronto 'Maha Viharaya' at Kingston Road, Scarborough was made in the early hours of Friday.

At a meeting with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFA&IT) today, the High Commission conveyed the concerns of the Government of Sri Lanka to the Canadian Officials on the incident. The DFA&IT assured that precautionary measures will be taken to protect Sri Lankan interests in Canada.
