Be positive Think positive...

continued from last week

Rapid thinking...

However, what runs counter to this theory is that sooner or later, the highway bends and the driver will abruptly awaken to the bitter most truth in the world. A person who does not at all encourage the development of thinking in himself, will sooner or later, have to pay for at a crucial moment in his life would pose for him.

Importance of right question

The proper technique of asking the right question is a somewhat uphill task because we easily learn how to find the answer to a particular question but seldom learn how to find the question.

Practising how to ask a question is something we could do with improving and just questioning our organisation or company personnel to see if we can find a better way of running it, is the first step in the right direction.

In short, formulating a question in different angles definitely enables us to treat the particular problem from varied angles. When we face a problem, we should formulate it as a question in a number of different ways and then try to find several answers or ask the question in another way if we happen to get stuck.

However, there lies greater depth and importance in questioning too. To question something is frequently viewed as negative but the correct amount of questioning is fairly profitable as it ensures that we do things in the right way and for the right reason.

Not contrary to popular belief, one of the highly important things we can do is to question ourselves and develop more enquiring minds just as children do. When was the last time we questioned a decision of ours? When was the last time we questioned something? When was the last time our management questioned its organisation?

In any case, highlighting the value of questions does not necessarily no sooner than they are made, but it encourages those decisions being sensibly questioned. If we are to question what we do and the boss of our work place, we are dead sure of maximising our potential and filling ourselves with the sense of fulfilment in the work place.

All the needles in haystack

The other dimension of asking the right question is looking for many different answers to one question. When someone finds a solution to a challenging problem, we should ask him one question, “Can’t we do this in another way?”.

People will criticise us and be under the conception that we are being awkward and unnecessarily sceptical if we do not give in when someone has hit on a good idea. But it should not be so. Albert Einstein’s students once asked him, “What is the difference between you and the rest of us?” He quickly replied “If you’re asked to look for a needle in a haystack, then you search until you find it, though I search until I find all the needles”.
