Opposition suffers another defection

People’s Liberation Solidarity Front (PLSF) leader Dr. Kamal Karunadasa said his party had broken away from the United National Front (UNF) to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the upcoming Presidential Election.

Addressing a special media briefing held in Colombo, Dr. Karunadasa said there was no democracy in the UNF. All decisions are being taken by the UNP, along with the JVP and other political parties have to work as puppets, he said.

“We didn’t expect a retired military officer as the presidential candidate from the UNF.

A person who has a military background will lead this country towards a military dictatorship.

The PLSF, which has a strong farmer, fishery, youth and worker base in the Southern, Eastern and North Central Provinces, will utilize its strength to defeat this force and ensure President Rajapaksa’s victory,” he said.
