Kandy C.C. win by 21 runs

CRICKET: Veteran cricketer-cum-coach Suresh Peiris scored 62 (6 fours, 1 six 68 balls) and also took 2 for 26 to guide Kandy Cricket Club to the semi-finals of Sri Lanka Division one inter-club limited over cricket tournament when they scored a 21 run win over their traditional rival Kandy Youths Cricket Club in the quarter-finals played at the Pallekelle Cricket Stadium.

Bad light resulted in the early stoppage of play and under the Paradolo System in the 39th over, Kandy Youths CC should have got 217 runs for victory and they reached 195 for 7.

Kandy CC: 233 for 9 wkts in 46 over (Suresh Peiris 62, Dilipa Wanasinghe 33, Janaka Senaviratne 39, Amith Jayaratne 26, Madushan Bototage 2 for 49, Chandima Abeykoon 2 for 36, Nadun Basnayake 3 for 43).

Kandy Youths CC: 195 for 7 in 39 over (Mahesh Rajaratne 64, Prasad Ranawaka 50, Kasun Ekanayake 30, Ravindra Srilal 2 for 33, Suresh Peiris 2 for 26).
