Two Aussies out at nervous nineties

MELBOURNE, Dec. 26 - Australia, electing to bat first, were strongly placed at 305 for 3 at stumps on day one of their First Test against Pakistan begun at the MCG here today.

The home team was given a perfect start with openers Steve Watson and S. M. Katich putting on a massive 182 runs for the first wicket. But both of them were unfortunate to be out in their nervous nineties. Watson was the first to go when he was run out for 93.

AUSTRALIA: 305 for 3 at stumps (Watson 93, Katich 98, Ricky Ponting 57, Michael Hussey 38 n.o.; Mohomed Asif 2 for 59).
