Agni S.C. Pilimatalawe take Ratwatte Challenge Shield

SOFTBALL CRICKET: Agni Sports Club, Pilimatalawe won the General Anuruddha Ratwatte Challenge Shield when they emerged champion at the Six-A- Side Softball Cricket Tournament organised by the Kandy District Sports Development Federation, held at the Police grounds, Kandy on the 24th December 2009.

The first round matches were held last month and final round matches were postponed due to bad weather.In the final, Agni S.C. beat Nawalanka S.C. Lewella, by one wicket.

Nawalanka: 44 for four in five overs. (Sanjeewa Subasinghe 18, Chenulaka Fernando 15, Sanjaya Herath 1 for 8, Amila Ratnayake 1 for 7.

Agni S.C.: 45 for 4 in 4.5 overs. Janaka Kumara 18 Buddhika Nishantha 2.2 Athula Silva 2 for 7)

In the semi finals, Nawalanka S.C. beat Honest Star S.C. to enter the final, while Agni S.C. beat Mahaiyawa S.C. to come up to the final.

Fourteen team participate in this annual cricket tournament.
