Child’s lover for guru
She ran towards the door, seeing that her beloved “Sir” , the teacher
had come for the tuition lesson that day. Every week for eleven years
she clung to her teacher’s hand and enter the room.
 On that extraordinary day she looked much more serious with a sad
mixed happiness plastered to her face. She clung onto his hand and asked
a kind of question that no one would ever dream of asking a teacher.
“Sir, May I call you “Father”? was this small girl’s kind request. He
was dumbstruck to be asked such a question.
“Daughter why do you ask so”? She was silent for a moment till he
asked, stroking her soft hair.
Then her woes and worries came pouring out. Her father had left her
when she was very small. She never remembered her father, only grandma
cared for her and she had seen her mother only a few times.
“Sir, you showed me who a father should be, how great a father’s love
is. Sir that is why I asked to call you ‘father’.
Thus she wept for a long time standing near him. “Daughter, I only
want to see that you face O/L and pass it with flying colours. That’s
all I want from you” was his reply.
A few weeks later this girl brought a pen and presented it to the
teacher. “This, pen will be a souvenir from me and forever I’ll keep it
in my bag”, said the teacher.This is a true story which shows how much a
father’s love means to a child. This girl is studying in Grade Nine at
present and I know it is true because I saw the pen.
