Imthi refuses Ra-Blue’s offer

Ra-Blue summoned Marking Bar-keer, Imthi on an SOS call and urged the vice president of his party to add more weight to their party’s election propaganda wing.

While politely turning down his leader’s offer, Imthi has said that he would never go behind positions. “I remain with the UNP for two reasons. One is because my family for generations has been in this party. The other is that I have to serve the Muslims in this party. I don’t need positions to do that. So let me remain as I am,” Imthi politely told the leader.

Fonny scolds his wife

Fonny continued to show his usual qualities when his better half Ah-Know-Mah visited him last week with string hoppers, coconut sambol and potato curry for breakfast.

Having found a small metal piece in the pol sambol, Fonny got worked up and threw the plate at Ah-Know-Mah, saying that she could still not prepare a clean meal.

Though Ah-Know-Mah was scheduled to see her hubby at 7 am the next day, she felt scared and apparently turned up 45 minutes behind schedule. “See what the time is, I have asked you to see me at 7 am and not at 7.45 am,” an angry Fonny told his visiting spouse and chased her away.

With those successive bitter experiences, Ah-Know-Mah thought that she should come early on the third day and was there to see Fonny by 6.30 am. But she could not tame the wild former General. “Why are you early? Time is time; I asked you to come at seven o’clock and not at 6.30 am,” said Fonny, chasing Ah-Know-Mah away for the third successive day.

From pillar to post

Wedding-Sam is going from pillar to post. He is in further political wilderness after even the last few Maa-pila members he had with him deserted the poor happy and gay guy from Maa-thara.

His admin sec, Doc Cool Banda, along with 31 other district organisers and politburo members of the Maa-Pila Group, left Wedding-Sam.

The Maa-Pila rebels returned to the Hand Party, obtaining party membership before MR. Cool Banda has alleged that Wedding-Sam has used his name as the publisher in releasing a mud-slinging tabloid during their unsuccessful Prez election campaign.

But the biggest setback to Wedding Sam as well as Ra-Blue was the bold decision of Dil-Ruk-She, the widow of Sripathi.

Wedding-Sam preferred his blue-eyed boy Gem Ferdy ahead of Dil-Ruk-She for the Maa-Pila Group slot from the Green alliance for the Gampaha district nomination list. Then Ra-Blue came to her rescue and offered her candidacy from the Greens.

But Dil-Ruk-She finally decided to return to her husband’s old party, meeting MR at TT. Dil-Ruk-She has said that it was Wedding-Sam who ruined her husband and his political career.

“He had a bright future with the Es El Ef Pee. But his friend Man Gala ruined all that. Sripathi trusted his friend and did everything to please him though those decisions were personally disadvantageous to him. Man Gala is responsible for all that and ruining the party,” she told her, supporters.

Ah-Killer says Fonny has no vote base

Ah-Killer V-Raj, one of the blue-eyed boys of the Opposition Leader, has openly said that Fonny does not have a vote base.

Asked about the head-to-head contest between his leader and Fonny in the Colombo district at the election that is general, Ah-Killer, in a newspaper interview, has said that Fonny does not have a base in Colombo unlike Ra-Blue.

Ah-Killer has added that there is no point in voting for Fonny’s Jay Vee Pee alliance. “What could they do? Could they challenge the government? No! Hence, a vote for Fonny, the trophy symbol or the Jay Vee Pee, could be counted as a rejected vote. It is the You End Pee which could at least come close to the You Pee Ef Ae,” he said.

Fonny reprimands Ranil

Fonny has already conceded defeat at the next election that is general and has urged Ra-Blue not to become an opportunist. In a letter to the man who leads the Opposition, the General who marched from grace to disgrace, has stressed the importance of having a common Opposition.

While severely criticising Ra-Blue’s decision to go solo with the Elephant symbol, Fonny has pointed out that they could never fulfil their dreams through lone battles under separate political alliances.

Fonny has reprimanded Ra-Blue for going for short-term political goals to suit the Fifth Lane agenda. Instead, Fonny has urged Ra-Blue to think on the broader interests of Opposition politics. He has admitted that the Opposition would not be able to win the election that is general as they are contesting under two different camps.

Another ‘smart operation’

Fonny had accomplished another ‘smart operation’ when he was in uniform. After obtaining a bullet-proof limo worth over Rs. 40 million for just two million rupees, he has signed a service contract with the local agent of the vehicle.

Knowing well that he had to retire by December last year, he had signed a five-year service contract for his vehicle and had paid all monies due for the agent for servicing and maintenance. It is an eye opener for all from the man who had been preaching on transparency and abuse of public funds.

Peacock-rock battle hots up

The Elephant Party’s regional battle in the district that is Peacock-rock reached its peak when Ra-Blue ordered the people at the Kotha that is Siri not to give Run-jeet Middle-Bandara his appointment letter as the district leader.

The Greens usually issue fresh appointment letters to its district leaders and last week, all other district leaders were issued with fresh appointment letters, except for Middle-Bandara.

This follows a battle Middle-Bandara had with the party’s top brass. It is alleged that Middle-Bandara had altered the original nomination list for the district from the Elephant Party, deliberately omitting the name of Tissa Kuttiarachchi, the nominee for the district list from the Maa-Pila Group.

Middle-Bandara has said that the man who had secured candidacy from the Maa-pila group is not a UNPer and had conspired against the Greens. Middle-Bandara has said that he would extend his fullest support for a pending Police investigation on the Peacock-Rock nomination list controversy.

Atta-Leader’s advice

The Elephant Party has launched a sinister campaign to retain its block vote. A top party official has warned all candidates to refrain from talking about Fonny.

“The General managed to get only 4.1 million votes, less than what our leader obtained at the 2005 Presidential Election. Even with the support of the Jay Vee Pee, he could not better our leader’s record,” Atta-Leader told a group of Green candidates at the Kotha that is Siri.

Atta-Leader has ordered the candidates not to bring Fonny’s name into the picture at any of their meetings. “That would be disadvantageous. All the votes he polled at the Presidential Election were You En Pee votes. We must make sure that none of those votes go away from us. This is the chance for us to show that the General was just a candidate without a vote base or a party.

He was just a passenger and lived on our votes. We must secure all You En Pee votes and show the man that he is only a retired Army officer and not a democratic politician such as our leader,” he said.

“Then why did you insist that we campaign for him and vote for him. We should have fielded our leader at the Presidential Election. He would not have won, but would have managed to obtain more votes than the General,” a chief organiser from Colombo District said.

“Very true! Our leader would have ended up as a loser, but still would have polled a couple of lakhs more votes than the General. We must not let the General get a single vote from ours,” Atta-Leader said.

Blue-eyed boys

Ra-Blue has evinced a personal interest in the election campaigns of his blue-eyed boys. Apart from lavish party funding and resources, unlike other Green candidates, Sa-Rock, Ah-Killer and Vaj-Abey have been assured assistance by the leader. Ra-Blue will make more trips to their districts to do direct campaigning for his ‘loved ones’.

Desperate talk

Fonny was desperate to talk to Ra-Blue to reach a general understanding before they launch their election campaigns. But, it was a firm no from the Green leader. “Our thoughts are with you. Since we are on a different election platform, it is not appropriate for such a dialogue. But, we will never forget what you have done,” was his curt message to Fonny.

Ra-Blue’s metamorphosis

Beautiful Gee-Tha is overjoyed that she was able to change Ra-Blue’s interest to a great extent. Following Ra-Blue’s adverse remarks on the popular actress turned politician, Gee-Tha said “I was told that he is looking at my photographs. All this time, he has not shown an interest in women. I am glad that I have brought about a change in him”.

Red strategy

Anura-Prince is all out to market Fonny during the election campaign but the Bell Boys are deeply perturbed by the poor response. On the advice of Soome-1-sa, they published an ad in the weekend papers - Fonny behind bars, makes a fervent appeal; a unique way to win the sympathy vote eh!

Wedding Sam isolated

Wedding Sam is left with only Gem Ferdy after all his confidants, including Tea-Run Potato and Doc Cool Banda, deserted him. The Maa-Pila group is now confined to a couple of members after 31 of the top most members met MR and returned to the Hand Party.
