Earth Hour at Eurocenter
Eurocenter DDC will become a part of global event Earth Hour 2010 on
March 27. An annual global campaign to combat climate change. Initiated
in Sydney 2007, around 2.2 million citizens and 2,100 businesses turned
their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate
change.
In 2008 it became a global event - 372 cities around 35 countries
participated. Last year 4,000 cities in 88 countries pledged their
support to the movement. Earth Hour Twitter, stated that around 120
counties are taking part this year.
Eurocenter DDC, one of the leading software engineering companies in
Sri Lanka, joined hundreds of millions of concerned citizens across the
globe in showing that the citizens of the world can work together to
resolve the issue of climate change.
Eurocenter DDC took the initiative by switching off electricity at
its premises on March 27.
With the support of Eurocenter employees an email campaign was
launched to create awareness among the Sri Lankan IT community. As
another initiation of a CSR project, Eurocenter DDC is dedicated to make
a positive contribution toward environmental sustainability.
Business communities and individuals should take the responsibility
and action to make sure that a sustainable planet is left for future
generations. Earth Hour is a way to show that the citizens genuinely
care about the future and show leadership in the battle against climate
change - the greatest threat faced by mankind.
