‘I met the most beautiful angel’

It was on September 2 last year. During the warm summer, I met the most beautiful angel that I’d even seen in my life. I must say that I had seen thousands of beauties. But I didn’t hope the angel would take away my sleep.

I went on a trip to Kandy with my friends. It was a really enjoyable tour. But I didn’t think that it would be a turning point in my life. I met her at the Peradeniya gardens. We were walking all along the garden and suddenly we heard, “hey, where on earth you are going, can’t you see, I’m taking a photograph”. We all were astonished and red-faced. But I couldn’t believe my own eyes after seeing her.

Although she got a bit angry at that moment she came towards us and apologised. She was a really friendly lass. We walked and talked for a while and, the angel flew away from me as her mum came with her little sister. I could only know that her name is Sandali and living in the paradise of Kandy.

I got very depressed. But my friends wanted to stay more as their desire was the tour but my heart only knew that my desire was just to find the hill-country princess.

However, we next went to the ‘Dalada Maligawa’ at the end of the tour. But I never thought she will disturb me again.

How to believe! She sat next to me and was praying deeply. I couldn’t imagine that who sent her to me? Was this an illusion?

But, how to take eyes from that alluring scene. She had closed her eyes and murmuring something I didn’t know what it was. But, I only knew that she was simply out of this world. Still, she is in my mind as the angel who was clad in crystal white.

I wanted to tell at least ‘gihing ennang’ But I was helpless as her mom was next to her and my friends were calling me. So, I had to take the first step out of ‘maligawa’ bearing an ocean of tears in my mind.

I’m very sorry my girl, Sandali. I love you so much.....

But I wasn’t lucky enough to express it to you....

- Adithya from Panadura
