Cey-Nor boats for Bangladesh

For the first time Cey-Nor foundation, managed by the Ministry of Fisheries has entered into a joint venture partnership with a foreign company in Bangladesh to manufacture boats.

Chairman Cey-Nor Foundation, Rohan Jayasinghe said that the mould to manufacture boats in Bangladesh is now being shipped to Bangladesh.

He said that the Bangladesh fishing industry is still at a primitive stage with most of the fishermen using wooden boats. “Sri Lanka staff will assist the Board of Investment Company in Bangladesh to manufacture fiberglass multiday 40 feet long boats for the country’s market,” he said.

The Chairman also said that they are looking at similar investment opportunities in other SAARC countries.

Cey-Nor Foundation recently built two boat ambulances to be used in mid sea with a capacity to carry medical staff, equipment and two patients.

The company also introduced the Sashimi boat which is powered by both fuel and a sail enabling fishermen to stay a longer duration in the water.
