'Opposition will disintegrate by 2015'
by Nadira Gunatilleke
The biggest problem faced by the Opposition at present is not winning
the upcoming Parliamentary election, but to have an Opposition in 2015,
Urban Development Minister and Matale SLFP Organiser Rohana Kumara
Dissanayake said.
Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo, Minister Dissanayake
said that even within this evil system President Mahinda Rajapaksa
solved problems among the candidates by offering all of them `District
Organiser' posts. Now there are no barriers for the UPFA candidates to
canvass in other electorates. These days the UNP is very busy counting
SMS and they are trying to select the best lie that should be used as
the main excuse after getting defeated at the upcoming General Election.
According to Minister Dissanayake no one can say that the country had
not been developed or infrastructure facilities were not developed
during the past few years. Mathata Thitha has reduced minor complaints
of rural areas by 30 percent.
The only thing that this Government couldn't do is giving wisdom to
the JVP and to the UNP. The JVP has no ability to obtain at least two
seats at the upcoming General Election. During the recent Presidential
Election the UNP and the JVP joined hands and `got married' but it seems
the marriage ended in a divorce by the time of the General Election.
There was a prediction last year about a possible doomsday in 2010 but
it seems this doomsday brought good luck to Sri Lanka by marking the end
of the JVP in 2010. It was not the world or country which is going to be
destroyed. It is the destructive elements which are going to be
destroyed.
A large number of UNP and JVP members in Matale obtained the
membership of the SLFP recently, the Minister added.
