Basnahira South heading for victory

CRICKET: Basnahira South put themselves in contention for an easy
outright victory by dominating the third day of their Bank of Ceylon
Inter Provincial four day cricket tournament match against Kandurata
which continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.
Kandurata trailing by 131 runs on the first innings collapsed to 252
for 9 in their second innings despite two splendid half centuries from
opener Nadeera Nawala and all rounder Ishan Muthaliph.
Nawala hoisted two sixes and struck five boundaries during his top
score of 81 while Muthaliph hammered a sparkling 63 not out from 89
balls with the help of one six and half a dozen of boundaries.
Leg spinner Malinga Bandara again did the damage with a three wicket
haul supported well by Dinuka Hettiarachchi and Janaka Gunaratne.

Dinesh, Sohan shine with ball
Opening bowler Dinesh Dharshanapriya and spinner Sohan Boralessa
snapped up four wickets each as Basnahira North took first innings
points over Ruhuna on the third day of their Bank of Ceylon Inter
Provincial four day cricket tournament match which continued at the
Galle International Stadium yesterday.
Ruhuna chasing their opponents massive first innings total of 538
runs were dismissed for 301 despite a splendid century from wicket
keeper batsman Dinesh Chandimal.

Janashakthi win on run rate
Janashakthi edged out MAS Active by six runs on the Duckworth and
Lewis scoring method in their rain hit Mercantile'B' division cricket
tournament final worked off at the NCC ground in Maitland Place
yesterday.
