Orion City IT Park expands client base; adds Global IT major as a new entrant

The arrival of MphasiS, India's 7th largest global software provider, which is set to commence operations at the IT Park by May 2010 will be occupying an initial space of 20,000 sq. ft., according to Orion City.

The subsidiary of global giant Hewlett-Packard Group (HP), MphasiS recently said that its Sri Lankan operation would hire over 2,000 employees over the next three years.

The company is a leading applications services, remote infrastructure services and business process outsourcing services provider with over 34,000 people, which services global clients across industries.

MphasiS joins other global ITO/BPO companies such as Virtusa, MediGain, Cinergix and Saber Technologies who have presence at the IT Park.

Orion City is the part of the St. Anthony's Group of Companies and is the groups latest large scale infrastructure project.

The city promises to house 3 million square feet of commercial development attracting top service related companies.

Mphasis moving to Orion, heralds an exciting time in Sri Lanka's IT/BPO industry. As one of the first mover's to Sri Lanka, MphasiS will be able to create great job opportunities and attract the right human resources to encourage the nascent but quickly growing IT/BPO industry. Orion working with SLASSCOM and other government institutions like the ICTA and BOI intends on attracting foreign companies into the service sector.

Sri Lanka is being promoted as niche Finance and Accounting / KPO destination globally through the efforts of Slasscom and Government.
