Thunder and lightning to ease

The Meteorological Department says that the thunder showers and lightning experienced in many parts of the country will ease in the coming days although heavy rains due to inter-monsoon conditions will continue.

Meteorologist Damayanthi Indiketihewage told the Sunday Observer that the thunder showers caused by intertropical convergence zones appearing closer to Sri Lanka will ease in the coming days.

“However, thunder showers will continue for the next two days and will ease in a few days with the inter tropical convergence zones which appeared closer to the South moving towards the North”, she said.

The Met Department in its forecast for today says thunder showers will develop in several parts of the country during the afternoon and in the evening.“There may be temporary localised fairly strong winds during thunder showers”, it added.
