LTTE lethal weapons still unearthed
In the backdrop of the country getting ready to celebrate the first
year anniversary of the defeat of the LTTE lethal weapons buried by the
outfit are still being unearthed from the North and the East according
to the Army’s media unit.
The Army media unit said the troops engaged in search and clear
operations in the general areas of Jaffna, Iranamadu, Pannikulam,
Ampakamam and Mulliyavalai in the districts of Kilinochchi and
Mullaitivu on Friday found three T-56 weapons, 17 T-56 magazines, 6,550
rounds of T-56 ammunition, 7,284 60 mm mortar bombs, 14 60 mm mortar
bomb fuses, four 40 mm mortar bombs, 125 rounds of 7.62 X 54 mm
ammunition, 14 Rocket Propeller Grenades (RPGs) 13 claymore mines, one
152 mm HE bomb, two T-56 weapon bolts, five bolt carrier groups, three
T-81 gas tubes, one T-81 upper hand guard, one RPG Bi-port, two T-56
receiving covers, 23 anti-personnel mines, 48 anti-personnel mine fuses,
26 Para bombs and three artillery fuses.
