Mark Bostock Memorial Golf Championship May 8.

GOLF: Victoria Golf and Country Resort will conduct its Annual Mark Bostock Memorial Golf Championship 2010 at the Victoria golf course at Rajawella off Kandy on May 8th, Saturday.

This championship will be a 18-hole Stableford competition and the winner will be awarded the Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy and this will be on Saturday May 8th. Apart from this there will be also the Ken Balendra Trophy for Mens Gross. Tony Witham Trophy for Ladies Gross.

There will also be competitions for Mens Net, Ladies Net. Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive for Men and Women. The prestigious Mark Bostock Trophy will be awarded to the Best Net score registered by a golfer. The same evening there will be also the draw for the Mark Bostock Pots Foursome competitions. This will be also a 18-hole competition which will be held.

It must be recalled that Mark Bostock, a former ruggerite and Marksman who came over from England was the founder of Victoria Golf Club as it was known then. Prier to that, he was a planter and the Chairman of John Keells Limited. He made this beautiful golf course on a 558 acre mixed plantation on the banks of the Victoria reservoir.
