Holcim FA cup:

Colombo FC enters pre quarters beat Negombo YSC 4-3

Less fancied Colombo Football Club only played Negombo Youth SC in a tie tracker four goals to three at the City Football Complex yesterday in a Holcim FA cup fourth round game.

Colombo FC who entered the senior soccer tourney as one of the lesser fancied teams managed to reach the pre quarter finals of the Holcim FA cup and will now confront Police SC next weekend.

Colombo FC dominated the first half of yesterday's game and were in front with two goals to nil. The Colombo lads played as a complete mint to battle the strong Negombo lads during this session.

After the turn around Negombo Youth SC reduced in the 55th minute through a corner kick with a nice beader from one of the strikers.

Ten minutes later Negombo Youth came to equal terms and they took a lead with another goal with around twelve minutes of play left. At this stage Colombo FC went on the attack and saw good results finding the equalizer with two minutes for the final flow. The final came from referee G. N. Robesh with scores on level terms.

Referee introduced the tie breaker at this stage and the Colombo FC managed to win the game when their custodian saved the final kick, Earlier the third kick too was kicked astray by a Negombo player which went as a big loss for them.
