Tri-Star to employ 600 women from rehabilitation centres

Six hundred women selected from the rehabilitation centres in the North will be provided with employment at the Dambadeniya and Nikaweratiya factories of Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pte) Ltd.

Tri-Star will employ 300 of these young women in its garment factories in Dambadeniya in the second phase while the other 300 will be employed in the garment factories in Nikaweratiya in the third phase.

Tri-Star Chairman Deshamanya Dr. Kumar Dewapura has pledged to employ 1,200 young women from the rehabilitation centres in the North in the Tri-Star garment factories.

The company has already employed 200 former LTTE cardres in its garment factory in Trincomalee. Tri-Star has also opened a training institute in the Poonthottam rehabilitation camp to train these women on the garment industry.

Tri-Star has invested two million US dollars in this project. The newly-appointed employees will receive Rs. 12,000 as salary, insurance, food and accommodation facilities by Tri-Star.
