a long-term village outreach CSR program Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana
recently.

The first ever vehicle to reach
Walagama in decades, entering the village. |
Munchee constructed a 2km road and a bridge in Walagama in the
Galigamuwa electorate, where the villagers were using foot paths and an
edanda (coconut trunk link) to cross the stream. Walagama is considered
as one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka.
Munchee also granted scholarships to 3 students under Munchee
Shishyadhara and donated some passion-fruit saplings to villages under
their home-gardening programme, from whom Cecil, a sister brand of
Munchee will eventually purchase the harvest.
Speaking about the Gamata Sarana initiative Group Director & Head of
Marketing & Sales, CBL Nandana Wickramage said, “We have observed that
social incentives can greatly improve the economic dynamics of rural
societies and if we could integrate the backward rural communities with
the adjacent larger society, a fundamental improvement could be made in
their lifestyles.
Keeping this in mind we launched the Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana
program where we intend to provide remote villages with infrastructure,
knowledge, accessibility to markets, education and business know-how so
that an eventual improvement will take place in their lives”
