Hemas Pharmaceuticals launches Solo

Over two billion people will be overweight and around 700 million will be obese by 2015 said COO, Natures Only, USA,Paul Stanton addressing a ceremony to launch Solo, a sweet relief by Hemas Pharmaceuticals on Tuesday.

He said people could be obese or overweight irrespective of the status of the country. One need not necessarily be in a wealthy country to be overweight.

"Around 10.3 percent of the population of Sri Lanka suffer from diabetes related diseases and the number of those affected are increasing due to negligence", he said.

Stanton said rapid urbanisation has increased the number of diabetes patients across the world and added that around 1.5 million people died of diabetes related diseases in 2005.

Many Sri Lankans love to eat sweet foods and are not willing to cut down on the intake of sugar. Low calorie sweeteners can be used in food and beverages.

Head of OTC Business, Hemas Pharmaceuticals, Romero Linden said Solo is devoid of the negative effects of sugar and can be used in food and beverages.

Solo, a product of sucralose does not contain aspartame and saccharine.

Available in tablet and powdered form Solo is recommended for children and adults.
