Northumbria University, based in Newcastle UK maintains a reputation
as one of Britain’s best modern universities Chartered Institute of
Management Accounting (CIMA), a popular professional qualification in
Sri Lanka launched an innovative degree pathway for CIMA qualified
students at British High Commission, Colombo. The pathway ensures that
CIMA qualified students can obtain both professional and academic
qualifications through CIMA study pathway. This has been a long time
need for CIMA students.
Speaking at the launch British Deputy High Commissioner Mark Gooding,
said, “the degree pathway is an innovative approach to increase access
for Sri Lankan students to a British Degree.
This programme will further strengthen the education partnerships
between Sri Lanka and the UK.” He commended the efforts of Northumbria,
CIMA and BMS local university partner in setting up this degree
programme to provide the opportunity for Sri Lankan students to gain
internationally recognised British qualifications.
CIMA Regional Director South Asia and Middle East Bradley Emerson
said, Northumbria, a modern generation university and CIMA is a next
generation qualification which makes the perfect combination to develop
the best degree pathway ever introduced in Sri Lanka. Former Deputy
Governor Central Bank and President, BMS W.A. Wijewardena said the
launch of the CIMA degree pathway is another milestone in the future
education in Sri Lanka.
