The teachers and students of this school had been facing hardship due
to non availability of water at the school. This was brought to the
notice of the management of CBL by Munchee field staff of the area. In
addition to Munchee’s financial assistance, its field sales staff also
took part in a ‘sharamadana’ along with teachers, parents and students
to expedite construction work.
Speaking at the inauguration, the principal of the school A.
Dissanayaka said that eleven years ago he had reprimanded a grade 1 boy
for scooting off from school, only to realize that the boy had gone home
to drink some water. Students could now pursue their studies without
going in search of water, thanks to Munchee.
‘Munchee Tikiri Shishyadara’ scholarships were also awarded at this
function.
“We intend completing 100 community development projects during this
financial year specially for the benefit of the rural community under
the ‘Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana’ program. These projects would be
implemented after carefully evaluating information received from the
company’s field sales force and other sources, including media,” said
Group Director/Head Marketing and Sales, Ceylon Biscuits Limited Nandana
Wickramage.
Last month ‘Munchee Samaga Gamata Sarana’ constructed a bridge to
replace a log bridge along with a 2km road for the benefit of the people
in the Walagama village in the Galigamuwa electorate.
