Smart Media and clients bring honour to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has gained top honours for the quality of its annual
reports at the recently concluded League of American Communications
Professionals (LACP) Annual Report Competition. Several Sri Lankan
companies received awards for their annual reports whilst two companies
also made it to the global top 100 list. Smart Media - The annual report
company was awarded the Gold for Agency of the Year in the Asia Pacific
Region.
Chairman Smart Media Dr. Vijith Kannangara said that, nine out of the
top ten Fortune 500 companies participate in LACP competitions. “This
year, there were more than 4,000 entries from 28 countries for this
global annual report competition. Only the top 15% have received
award-level recognition. The average split between narrative and
financials in judging has been 40% to 60%, said Dr. Kannangara.
Diesel & Motor Engineering Company won its category Gold, as well as
the Gold for the Most Engaging Annual Report in the Asia Pacific Region
and was ranked No. 61 among the global top 100.
Seylan Bank won its category Gold, as well as the Gold for the Most
improved Annual Report in the Asia Pacific Region.
Dipped Products won its category Silver, as well as the Silver for
the Best Report Cover in the Asia Pacific Region and was ranked No. 91
among the global top 100.
Hayleys Chairman and CEO Mohan Pandithage said, “As a Sri Lankan
multinational, we need to communicate effectively with wide global
audience. Being highly diversified, we have to also ensure that these
audiences understand us very well. Our annual report plays a key part in
this. Today, there is a lot if interest in investing and doing business
in Sri Lanka. The timing of these awards is very good in that sense, and
will help the country in this efforts to promote itself as a good
investment proposition”. “Our relationship with Smart Media is one of
great longevity. We did take a very short break but are very glad to be
back entrusting the production of our Annual Report to them”, he added.
Nations Trust Bank won Silver in this category.
Talawakelle Tea Estates won the Bronze in its category.
The Islamic Business Unit of Lanka Orix Finance Company Ltd. won the
Bronze in this category.
