Dharmaraja goes in a big way for cricket

CRICKET: Dharmaraja College, Kandy celebrated the 123rd Anniversary of the school this year and the celebrations was highlighted with the traditional cricket match with Kingswood College.

In the long history of Dharmaraja College, the school can certainly be proud of having in their ranks Chamara Kapugedera who became the first Rajan cricketer to play for Sri Lanka after the country had Test status. However, before Kapugedera, there was Sonny Yatawara and T.B. Kehelgamuwa who had the privilege of playing for the national side before the country obtained Test status.

Dharmaraja College Cricket Foundation has been promoting cricket in a big way at the school for the past ten years or so and cricket has improved tremendously. The young Rajans have taken to the game and some young cricketers from the under 15 to under 19 age groups are being trained.

The Cricket Foundation at the school has spent around Rs. 600,000/ so far this year in the promotion of the game at the school.
