SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament :

First innings wins for Moors, Colts, Tamil Union, Air Force and NCC

CRICKET: Left-arm spinner Chaturanga de Silva snapped up four wickets for 54 to give Moors SC a good first innings lead over the favourites Chilaw Marians CC on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament match which continued at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 288 (U. Karunaratne 5 for 112, R. Gunasekera 3 for 16) and 12 for 1.

Chilaw Marians CC: 247 (G. Alwis 66, S. Silva 59, G. Kumara 37, C. de Silva 4 for 54, S. Fernando 3 for 71, M. Perera 3 for 31).

Beringer - splendid century

Wicket keeper batsman Andri Beringer hit a splendid 127 but could not prevent CCC losing to Tamil Union by three runs on the first innings on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament match against Tamil Union which continued at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval in Colombo yesterday.

Tamil Union: 296 and 6 for 1.

CCC: 293 (A. Beringer 127, S. Pathirana 52, R. Perera 35, L. Gamage 4 for 91, I. Udana 3 for 70, U. Peiris 2 for 34).

Unbeaten 115 by Janaka Peiris

Elegant middle order batsman Janaka Peiris hit an unbeaten 115 as Sri Lanka Air Force SC piled up a massive 469 runs in their first innings on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament match against Sri Lanka Navy SC which continued at Welisara yesterday.

Navy SC: 187 and 11 for no loss.

Air Force SC: 469 (S. Gayan 77, S. Bulathwela 69, J. Peiris 115 n.o, A. Gihan 56, S. Rangika 47, I. Perera 3 for 125, I. Chandrasiri 2 for 30, T. Priyankara 2 for 61).

Colts on first innings

Penetrative bowling from spinners Chaturanga Kumara, Rajive Weerasinghe and Anushka Samaratunga helped Colts CC bundle out Moratuwa SC for 277 and take a good first innings lead on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament match which continued at Havelock Park yesterday.

Colts CC: 368 and 86 for 1 (D. Dias 28 n.o, K. Janith 40 n.o).

Moratuwa SC: 277 (I. Thilina 33, D. Hewawasam 94, C. Fernando 27, M. Mendis 33, S. Liyanage 24, I. Jayaratne 2 for 43, C. Kumara 2 for 36, R. Weerasinghe 2 for 64, A. Samaratunga 2 for 51).

NCC - close 1st innings win

Former Sri Lanka youth player Angelo Perera hit a fighting half century to help NCC snatch a close five run first innings lead over Bloomfield on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament match which continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield: 241 and 48 for 1 (D. Munaweera 34).

NCC: 246 (A. Perera 52, S. Pussegolla 44, I. Udayanga 23 n.o, A. Laksiri 22, A. Atapattu 5 for 67, D. Munaweera 2 for 62, D. Fernando 2 for 57).

Latiff - 105 n.o.

Stylish opening batsman Majaf Latiff struck an unbeaten century to put Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC well on course to a first innings victory over Ragama CC on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division One Cricket Tournament match which continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

Ragama CC: 280.

Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC: 248 for 5 (M. Latiff 105 n.o, L. de Silva 49, D. Athuraliya 31, N. Premaratne 4 for 79).
