313,000 students sit year 5 schol exam

Three-hundred-and-thirteen-thousand students are sitting the year five scholarship examination in 2,744 examination centres countrywide today, Commissioner General of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe said.

The Commissioner General has asked the parents to bring their children to school in the morning and to refrain from entering the examination centre to see their children or give them food and water.

Parents are prohibited from entering the examination centre.

He told parents and teachers not cause unwarranted examination stress for the students but create a peaceful environment for them to sit the examination.

According to the Commissioner General, the students can use a pencil or pen to write the answers and they should not be compelled to use any particular type of pens or pencils.

If students use pencils they can bring two or three HP pencils and those who use pens can bring two or three pens. The students should ensure that they write their index numbers as soon as they get the question paper.
