25 Ayurvedic doctors for Eastern hospitals

Twenty five Ayurvedic doctors will be appointed to fill the vacancies prevailing in the Ayurveda hospitals in the Eastern Province, Health Minister for the Eastern Province M.S. Subair said.

According to Subair, no appointments for Ayurvedic doctors have been made in Eastern Province hospitals for the past five years. The new appointments will fulfill the long-felt need of the people in the Province for Ayurvedic doctors.

He said the Eastern Province Governor has granted permission for the appointments.

Applications are to be called from qualified Ayurvedic doctors in the province and the appointments will be made on the basis of interviews.

There are 52 Ayurveda hospitals in the Ampara, Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts. Even though there is a need for at least 82 doctors, only 40 permanent doctors and 17 temporary doctors are serving in the Ayurveda hospitals at present.

The new appointments will ensure that all vacancies for Ayurvedic doctors in the Province are filled, Subair added.
